Mesut Ozil’s representatives are in ‘advanced talks’ with Manchester United about a possible move to Old Trafford according to Sky Sports News. Arsenal have already bid around £42.5m for the Real Madrid player, meaning United would have to match that offer if they are to stand any chance of capturing his signature.
The 24-year old playmaker has the most assists in European football over the past three seasons (86) ahead of Lionel Messi (80), and Juan Mata (66). With United’s current lack of creativity there for all to see, Mesut Ozil could solve that problem.
Varying reports suggest that the player himself would prefer a United move over an Arsenal one, and United themselves are clearly in the hunt for a player of that calibre after seeing Fabregas bids rejected.
I wouldn’t read much into this just yet though, as the BBC believe that United aren’t in for Ozil, but are pushing for Herrera and Fellaini instead.
