United prepare improved Herrera offer

The Daily Mail claim that Manchester United will go back in with an improved offer for Ander Herrera. Bilbao have already rejected a bid from United for the 24-year old, but it is believed the player has an interest in moving to England, and in particular Manchester United.

Many United fans will remember Herrera from a couple of years ago when we played Bilbao in the Europa League, the midfielder was at the heart of a 5-3 Athletic win on aggregate, with Herrera picking passes for fun.

Basque players aren’t usually the easiest to acquire though, with Bilbao renowned for driving a hard bargain. They recently sold Javi Martinez to Bayern Munich for €40 million with tax on top of that. They also chose to run down Fernando Llorente’s contract this year, rather than selling him.

United will have to pay over the odds to get their man, but Moyes has a liking for the player, after apparently keeping an eye on him whilst he was Everton boss.

Herrera remained on the bench for Bilbao yesterday, as they took on Real Madrid.
