Manchester United’s long list of reported transfer targets found another name added to that by the papers today, as the Express claim David Moyes is interested in Napoli’s attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik. The 26-year old has a contract in Naples until 2018, and Rafael Benitez is set to demand a huge £33m fee for the Slovakian playmaker.
Hamsik is the sole survivor of that excellent front trio of players that impressed on a European level a few years ago, as Lavezzi and Cavani both swapped Italy for France eighteen months ago, and it looks as though Hamsik’s days at Napoli are now numbered.
Chelsea and United are the frontrunners for his signature, but Mourinho’s men are having some trouble regarding Financial Fair Play leaving United in pole position.
Personally I think an attacking midfielder is the last thing we need. We have an abundance of talent in that area, including Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa, Wayne Rooney and Adnan Januzaj. We still need at least one world class holding midfielder, and our defence needs a lot of work doing to it before the start of next season.
