United to meet with agent of ex-Barca star

The latest player to be linked with a move to United is perhaps a strange one; Samuel Eto’o. The 32-year old striker is being forced out of Anzhi due to the owners new regime of cutting costs, and according to various media outlets, his agent is set to meet Manchester United officials this week.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with the Cameroonian footballer, which you can understand as they definitely need a striker. Do United really need another one though? I’d say definitely not. Even if Rooney were to be sold, there is still more than enough strikers at the club.

The main stumbling block that could hold the deal up would be the players salary according to the Metro. I still can’t see this deal ever happening though, Eto’o isn’t getting any younger, he’d cost a lot and there would be no sell-on value.

  1. He’s the sort of player that may be willing to take a pay cut if he has a ligament chance of adding some silverware to his personal collection by the time he retires.

Granted though a pay cut of 50% will still see him earn £150,000k a week, which is way too much.

As for another striker, I wouldn’t be shy to the idea, yeah it’s not essential but when we’re playing 2 games a week having someone like Eto’o there will be a massive help and will relieve a lot of pressure on RVP. It also stops Chelsea getting what they want, which is always nice.
