Whilst speaking to PA Sport, United’s 18-year old midfielder Adnan Januzaj expressed his desire to break into the first team this upcoming season. He also appreciates that being on tour is the first step towards achieving his goal. Januzaj has looked great on tour, and he topped it off with an excellent pass to create United’s dramatic equaliser last time out.
The young man was also full of praise for Ryan Giggs, he said that whenever he needs to ask a question he knows Giggs will always be there willing to answer. This is what makes United so different from most clubs, that tight knit bunch and a willingness to help eachother. It also helps when you are learning from the best.
“I try to impress the manager and play for Manchester United’s first team. That’s what I came here for,”
“Ryan Giggs has helped me a lot. Every time I need to ask something I go to Giggs. He helps me.
“My target for the season is to try and get some games for the first team. I have not spoken to the manager about it yet, but I would prefer to do that rather than go out on loan. Everyone wants to play for Manchester United.”
I’m sure that Januzaj will get his chance at some point this year, and it’ll probably be alongside Jesse Lingard in the Capital One Cup games at first. Although if he impresses there, he could find himself becoming a regular squad member in the not too distant future.
