Manchester United signed Victor Valdes on a free transfer yesterday evening, and the former Barcelona keeper in winning fans at Old Trafford already, after speaking so highly about the way the fans and club have treated him in his short-stay in Manchester so far.
He then went on to talk about his competition in between the sticks, as he labelled David de Gea the ‘best goalkeeper in the world’.
“I think now, in the moment, David is the best goalkeeper in the world,” Valdes said, in an interview with MUTV. “His performance every day and in every game shows everybody that his level is very high. He has had a great year and it is very nice. Now, I think he is the best goalkeeper in the world.”
This certainly is high praise from a shot-stopper of Victor Valdes’ calibre. Lets not forget that Valdes himself is still only 32-years old, and he still has plenty to offer Manchester United Football Club.
The priority at Old Trafford must now be to get David de Gea tied down to a long-term deal at whatever cost.
