Manchester United are preparing themselves for some busy transfer windows over the coming months as Louis van Gaal is set to be handed a further £100m+ to bolster the squad, according to various newspaper sources.
With United battling to get back in to the Champions League, the clubs heirachy are prepared to spend whatever necessary to ensure that such failures do not hit the club again. There is also a gap in quality to current Champions Manchester City and run away league leaders, Chelsea, that needs to be bridged if United are to get title number 21.
With the new £75m/year adidas contract starting from next season, It is believed that the Glazers and Ed Woodward have extra funds in the pot to splash the cash, however they can’t afford to miss out on the Champions League again.
Players have already been identified to enhance the quality and depth of the squad that has been savaged by 42 injuries so far this season. It is believed that United are chasing Dortmunds’ Mats Hummels and Atletico Madrids Diego Godin whilst Southamptons Nathaniel Clyne and Barcelona’s Dani Alves are also on the radar to bolster Uniteds defence.
Further up the field, Kevin Strootman, Marco Reus, and Arjen Robben are also fancied, whilst van Gaal has a decision to make whether to make Falcao’s loan deal permanent.
On top of the £100m+ war chest, van Gaal will be hoping to recoup some money as he continues to edge out the fringe players if the squad. The biggest names to head through the exit could be Javier Hernandez, Nani, Tom Cleverley, Wilfred Zaha, Nick Powell and Angelo Henriquez, all who are out on loan at the moment at various clubs around Europe.
The reports also claim that the futures of Darren Fletcher and Rafael are uncertain at the club, whilst Anders Lindegaard and Anderson are expected to leave.
It is expected that most of the business will be conducted in next summers transfer window, but the club will do what they can in the January market.
