Van Persie named on 10-man shortlist for UEFA award

After a stunning debut season at United, Robin van Persie’s contributions have been recognised on the European stage as he is nominated for 2012/13 Best Player in Europe award. The striker finished last season with a total of 30 goals in all competitions – justifying his £24million price tag.

The only other player on the shortlist from English football is Gareth Bale, who has already scooped both the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards domestically.

The 10-man shortlist is as follows:

Gareth Bale – Tottenham Hotspur
Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid CF
Zlatan Ibrahimović – Paris Saint-Germain
Robert Lewandowski – Borussia Dortmund
Lionel Messi – FC Barcelona
Thomas Müller – FC Bayern München
Franck Ribéry – FC Bayern München
Arjen Robben – FC Bayern München
Bastian Schweinsteiger – FC Bayern München
Robin van Persie – Manchester United

This list will be reduced to just three players, before the winner is announced at the end of next month.
