Manchester United’s Daley Blind fears that the club will sell him in the summer, reported by the IB Times.
Contract negotiations are yet to begin with the 27-year-old, who’s current deal runs out in just over six months time. However, United do have an option to extend that for a further year. Blind feels the club will take up that clause, but only to ensure they get some sort of transfer fee for him when they sell him on.
When Blind joined United, he initially played in the midfield role, but due to his versatility, he’s been moved all over the pitch. Typically, Jose Mourinho tends to opt for specialists rather than a man who’ll give you a 6/10 every week in multiple positions, and that has led to the Dutchman not seeing much action this term.
I like Blind and I think he’s an excellent squad player to have in and around the squad, but he’s just not quick enough to start at left-back for Mourinho’s United. Personally, his best spot is in the middle of the park, but with the wealth of options that the club now has in that area of the field, I struggle to see where he’ll fit in.
