Victor Lindelof was comfortably the best player on the park during Sweden vs Spain at EURO 2020.
Manchester United’s fanbase has often been left deflated by a Victor Lindelof mistake leading to an opposing goal. Heck, it happened in our Europa League final.
As can sometimes be the case, players performances can vary from club to club, manager-to-manager. Lindelof has been the classic example of that. At international level, the ‘Ice Man’ always performs at an extremely high level. Last night against Spain, he was outstanding.
Winning headers, making blocks, being positionally solid, Lindelof did it all – against a Spain side with bags of talent.
For his display, the United star was named Man of the Match, or ‘Star of the Match’ if we’re being official about it. It was a brilliant performance and Lindelof was all-smiles with his individual trophy after full-time:
While it’s frustrating that Lindelof rarely plays like this for United, it’s nice to see him doing well. You get the feeling the next twelve months are going to be massive for the Swede.
Succeed and he may well keep his place at the club as a rotational option. Fail when given the opportunity and it could be curtains for him at the Theatre of Dreams.
If Lindelof finishes this tournament as well as he’s started it, then the confidence levels will be through the roof when he arrives back in Manchester. Hopefully, that’s a sign of things to come going into a 2021/22 campaign where United fans are desperate to win their first major trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
