Ralf Rangnick is hopeful that Victor Lindelof may be back for Man United’s next fixture.
Manchester United remain unbeaten thus far, during the short Ralf Rangnick era. The Old Trafford club have offered up some mixed performances, though that first half against Burnley yesterday was excellent.
The overall outing was much-improved, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo being offered several good chances to score. Rangnick likes to have offensive control of a game and that was definitely the case at Old Trafford last night.
However, defensively, there are still some serious issues that Rangnick has to sort out. There was more than one shaky moment for both Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire and no doubt our German manager is looking closely at that.
With Raphael Varane on the bench for that one as he works his way up to full fitness, United need to find the perfect partner for the Frenchman. Right now, Victor Lindelof is likely to be the front-runner for the start.
After recently suffering some breathing issues, followed by a bout of Covid-19, United have been boosted. In his post-match press conference yesterday, Rangnick told the media that he’s hopeful the ‘Ice Man’ can return for the Reds’ next game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“I hope that Victor could be back by then,” Rangnick told the media, including ManUtd.com.
“Under normal circumstances, if the next test is negative, the PCR test is negative, he should be able to come back for this game.
“He has no symptoms so he should have no physical problems for that game.”
It’s a big lift that Lindelof isn’t suffering with any aftereffects from his bout of Coronavirus, meaning that aside from building up the match sharpness again, he should be good to go.
Honestly, Maguire’s form is a major concern and he should be made to sit out for a game or two. Lindelof deserves that opportunity for a prolonged run in the side alongside Varane – when both are fully fit in the New Year.
I get it, Lindelof has had his issues too. Though you get the impression he’s in a good place mentally at the moment and ready to seize that chance.
Hopefully, Lindelof is in the starting line-up on Monday when the Reds take on Wolves.
