Victor Lindelof injury a minor one, according to Sweden manager

Victor Lindelof’s injury issue has been described as a minor one.

Manchester United’s decision to switch to a five at the back only works when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has three able central defenders to call upon.

With Raphael Varane limping off the field yesterday, the Baby Faced Assassin is running out of options in that regard. Obviously, Victor Lindelof missed last night’s Champions League clash with an injury. United are now sweating on his fitness ahead of a huge derby game this weekend.

Well, we’ve been given some further information in regards to that and it comes from Sweden manager Janne Andersson. He’s met the media and confirmed the much-needed boost, with the key star’s injury not thought to be serious. In fact, it was deemed ‘a minor injury’, by the gaffer.

Check out what the Sweden manager had to say here:

“I talked to Victor yesterday. He was not worried. It’s a minor injury,” Andersson told Fotbollskanalen, translated by the Manchester Evening News.

“There we are and then you never know. But he was not worried in that way so that conversation felt good.”

Although the Ice Man has had his poor moments, it’s fair to say that more recently, the consistency has definitely improved. Nobody has ever doubted that on his day, he’s as good as anyone. It’s just that he blows hot and cold.

It’s without a doubt that the back five suits him, too. It gives him more freedom when venturing forward and carrying the ball out from the back which is undoubtedly one of his strengths.

Although the injury isn’t that serious, I do still wonder whether he’ll be fit for this weekend’s lunchtime kick-off against Manchester City. Like I say, it definitely looks like Varane is missing that one as he hobbled off yesterday, so we’re going to need Lindelof at his best.

At the very least, Lindelof should be back for the Watford game on November 20th after the international break.
