Victor Lindelof has been ruled out for about a month, after undergoing surgery on a groin problem.

Manchester United are currently a defensive mess. There has been no consistency in that area of the field, which is probably the position that is most reliant on building partnerships.

Erik ten Hag has utilised loads of different defenders already this term, mainly centre-halves. His situation is not being helped by constant injuries in that area of the field.

Lisandro Martinez will not be back until mid-January. Harry Maguire is also sidelined. Victor Lindelof has missed the last few. Now, we’ve been given a further update on the Ice Man.

It comes from the official club website, who confirm that United have been dealt further injury problems. The Swedish defender has been ruled out for the next month after undergoing surgery on what is described as a ‘minor groin issue’.

Lindelof’s injury comes at a time where United could have done without it… Suddenly, the only fit centre-halves are Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane. Both of whom have had their own injury issues this season…

The ex-Benfica defender had been in excellent form before going down to this groin problem, which is a real shame as he may find it tough to break back into the side upon his return.

Maguire should be back at that point, while Licha will also not be too far away.

I just hope the players that are available can do enough to get the job done over the busy Christmas period, but one more injury in that area and suddenly, Luke Shaw is back starting at centre-half for the foreseeable future.
