Victor Lindelof set to sign new Man United contract, agent in talks with Reds: report

All of the sudden, Manchester United’s defence is looking in a far better place than it did a month ago. The additions of both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire cannot be understated. Their importance over the next five years are key to any success we may have.

The stories on the back pages today are about a defender who is already at the club though… According to reports from his homeland, namely Aftonbladet, the 25-year-old United star, Victor Lindelof, is all set to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

Apparently, Lindelof’s agent has been in talks with United and the defender is set for a ‘significant’ pay increase on the £75,000-a-week that the Ice Man currently takes home.

Lindelof still has two years remaining on his current deal, with the option for a further year, but the fact that talks are already commencing lets you know just how much he has improved over the last twelve months.

For me, he’s deserving of the new deal, particularly as FC Barcelona showed an interest in the Swede over the summer. The best part of all is that Lindelof should only get better now that he’s playing alongside someone as experienced as Maguire.
