Man United centre-back, Victor Lindelof, has been dealing with an illness. Hence why he was absent for the Red Devils’ game vs West Ham.
Manchester United managed to edge past West Ham United last night, in a closely-fought Premier League encounter.
The Red Devils put in a real team performance, with every single player out there more than playing their individual part. Beofre kick off, United supporters were dealt a couple of blows. First, Antony was missing from the squad. It was later revealed he picked up a knock in training.
There was also no room for Victor Lindelof in the squad. Meaning United had no substitute centre-back on the bench.
Well, before the game, Ten Hag explained that the United star was missing with an illness, with Lindelof apparently feeling unwell.
Check out what Ten Hag had to say in full here:
“Yeah,” said Ten Hag on Sky Sports, per ManUtd.com, when asked if Lindelof was feeling unwell. “Harry played 45 minutes so he had a good training week. Now, I think he’s ready to play and he wanted already to start on Thursday but now he’s ready.”
Unfortunately, we’re not sure on the severity of Lindelof’s sickness, so it’s hard to say whether he’ll be available for selection when the Red Devils take on Real Sociedad on Thursday.
The good news? Harry Maguire played superbly in Lindelof’s absence. The Englishman grew into the game, winning headers galore in that second half, which was an important factor in United’s 1-0 victory.
Ten Hag has often talked about how important having a big squad is. This is just another example as to why. United have played Sunday-Thursday for a few weeks now and it’s beginning to take a toll on the squad.
Will the gaffer be given money to spend in January? I’d be surprised, but it is clear that dressing room could use a few extra players in it.
