Manchester United have sealed their first signing of the summer, with the club announcing a move for Victor Lindelof on Wednesday evening. The 22-year-old joins Old Trafford from SL Benfica, where he spent five years of his fledgeling career – winning two top division titles.
Today, the one they call the ‘Iceman’ took to Twitter for the first time since moving to Manchester, and he expressed his delight at joining United, before adding that he simply cannot wait to get started.

Well, I guess that feeling is mutual as I certainly cannot wait to see this young man in action. We’ve been desperate for another centre-half because let’s be honest, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have hardly set the world alight over the last twelve months or so.
The first opportunity we’ll get to watch our new man in action will be on the pre-season tour of the United States of America, which begins in around one months time. Hopefully, Lindelof acquits himself nicely and cements his place in Mourinho’s first Premier League starting line-up of the season – which will be at home to West Ham United.
In terms of his style of play, I just feel that the defender is tailor-made to play alongside Eric Bailly at the heart of our defence. It’s early days, I know, but I see him as a Rio Ferdinand type of player to Eric Bailly’s Vidic.
