It’s fair to say that Alexis Sanchez’s time at Manchester United has been nothing short of a disaster.
For me, the Chile international has probably been our worst ever #7, of which there have been many candidates recently. But, if you factor I his wages and the promise in which he arrived at Old Trafford with, I think he’s comfortably atop the list…
It’s a real shame because Sanchez, talent-wise, is top-drawer. We just haven’t seen it at all. It felt inevitable that he’d depart from United sooner rather than later, and Inter Milan is seemingly his destination – on a year-long loan deal.
Yesterday, Sky Sports Italy journalist, Maro Bovicelli, spotted Sachez arriving in Milan ahead of a proposed medical; with the deal nearing completion before the September 2nd European deadline.
In terms of weekly wage, you’d imagine the Red Devils are paying the lions share still, but for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer it’s more about getting Sanchez away from that United dressing room.
At this point, it’s unclear as to whether Inter has the option to buy Sanchez outright, but again, his wages could play a huge factor in that as he’s under contract at Old Trafford until 2022 – and I’d suspect the Reds will be paying some part of his wages until that date…
