For the first time this pre-season, United started with a team that was arguably only a couple of players short of being the first XI. Captain Vidic finally returned from his long lay-off. Euro stars Rooney, Welbeck, Nani and Young also returned, while Jones and De Gea were on the bench.
The 0-0 scoreline continued United’s current trend of low-scoring games. There were a few good moments though, provided mostly by Danny boy and Shinji Kagawa, who came on for the last half hour.

Sam Johnstone – Not his finest afternoon. Looked nervous, and should have done more with Dortmund’s opener. 3/10 Antonio Valencia – Didn’t deal with the Dortmund threat very well. Looked good going forward, though. 5/10
