Vidic returns for United

After suffering a mild bout of sciatica, Manchester United club captain Nemanja Vidic returned to the fold by playing for a United XI as they took on Crewe Alexandra. Wingers Antonio Valencia and Luis Nani also took part, with the latter scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory for the Red Devils.

The 31-year old centre-back has suffered a lot from injuries over the past couple of seasons, including a year long lay-off after a cruciate ligament problem, but United fans will be hopeful the Serb will return to full fitness before the season starts in just under three weeks time.

He’s an integral part of the United starting line-up and that was confirmed last season. His presence alone made a real difference, and when he didn’t play the back line looked unorganised and disjointed. Especially when you factor in the extremely tough start we have, its vital he is ready and raring to go come August 17th.
