Manchester United are halfway through the two-legged tie against Bayern Munich, and the impossible dream is still achievable, with United managing a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. Bayern will be without Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger at the Allianz, giving Moyes’ men that glimmer of hope.
Nemanja Vidic scored the United goal last night with a superb header, and afterwards our club captain reflected on the game whilst speaking to the media.
“It was a tough game and a good result,” Vidic said.
“We felt we had good positions and were solid, but one mistake was punished and they showed what a good team they are.
“They had a lot of possession but we accepted they would and we tried to counter attack.
“I think it will be the same game next week. They will have the same possession, especially as it’s their own ground, but if we keep the shape we can hurt them with our pace.”
For the first time in a while it looked like Nemanja didn’t have his heart in Italy already. He won his headers, wasn’t afraid to get stuck in and certainly got the better of the Bayern attackers. He will surely be missed next season.
