Another great weekend, another spot in the BBC TOTW for three key Manchester United players. The 4-1 victory over Newcastle was a real joy to watch and it’s nice to see our stars getting rewarded for their displays.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had his team playing some lovely, free-flowing football. As ever, Bruno Fernandes was the orchestrator due to his passing in between the lines, willingness to run at defenders and sheer genius.
In terms of dominance, United were always in complete control. Anything less than three points would have been an absolute travesty for the Old Trafford club.
Thankfully, our boys got the job done – and in emphatic fashion, too. The 4-1 scoreline was certainly fair. In fact, it probably could have been more.
Anyway, for their efforts, three Manchester United players were named in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week. I could certainly make a claim to suggest that Marcus Rashford should also have been included, as he picked up two assists and scored one goal.
However, looking at the names who were included, like Timo Werner and Harry Kane, you can certainly see why Crooks didn’t go with Rashford this time around…

Let’s start with Wan-Bissaka, who marked his 50th United appearance with a sublime goal. Not only that, though, he was impeccable defensively throughout. I’m pleased to see The Spider looking back to his brilliant best.
Harry Maguire was probably nursing an injury during this one, though he still managed to score a brilliant header to get United back level after that awful start. He’d command the back line well and ensure his side wasn’t going to give up another cheap goal.
As for Bruno Fernandes, what else is there to say about this man? He’d miss a penalty midway through the second-half, but more than make up for it, rounding off a stunning team goal to give United the lead. He’s a winner. A leader. A superstar. We’re so lucky to have him at Old Trafford.
Congratulations lads, and well deserved!
