Manchester United’s move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka is all-but-official after an agreement is in place with Crystal Palace to sign the 21-year-old. We covered David Ornstein’s story on the above here.
Understandably, the excitement is building amongst Red Devils fans. They can’t wait to see their new man in action, with supporters immediately turning their attention towards United’s tour of Australia next month.
United’s first game of the tour takes place on July 13th, which would have been earmarked as a potential debut for Wan-Bissaka – however that may not be the case…
According to Samuel Luckhurst, it is unclear as to Wan-Bissaka’s availability on the tour. It stems from his England U21 commitments, and understandably, the Three Lions youngster will need a rest to recharge the batteries.
Now you may say ‘he only played one game!’, which is true. But, he’d have been training like normal every single day and he hasn’t allowed himself a proper break in close to twelve months. Having that down-time is vital as you want to avoid burn-out.
Luckhurst followed his initial tweet up with a second (see above), claiming it’s yet to be decided when Wan-Bissaka will return to action. No doubt he’ll be properly assessed when he undergoes his medical.
With pre-season training starting next week, it looks unlikely that we’ll see the right-back involved before the squad fly out to Australia. I also wouldn’t bet on him featuring in the first couple of games, in my opinion, I’d earmark the Tottenham Hotspur game on July 25th…
