It feels like the third time in the space of the last five days or so that we’ve covered a story in regards to an Aaron Wan-Bissaka Manchester United medical, but here goes…
According to Goal, the 21-year-old right-back is set to become United’s second summer signing, following Daniel James’ move from Swansea City.
Goal say that Wan-Bissaka will have a medical ‘this week’ ahead of the completion of a £55million move which will see the Englishman playing at Old Trafford next term.
The report also adds that Wan-Bissaka is due to arrive at Carrington following his return from England U21 international duty. The Three Lions’ last game takes place tonight against Croatia. Presumably, the players will be heading home either tonight or tomorrow morning…
Apparently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been ‘extensively monitoring’ Wan-Bissaka over the last few months – and there’s no doubt that the Crystal Palace man will be a huge upgrade on what we already have.
I’ve said it before but in terms of defensive full-backs, Wan-Bissaka was right up there amongst the best in the business last season. For a side that conceded 54 league goals in 2018/19, this will be a key addition to the defence.
He’s not cheap, in fact, he’ll be the most expensive specialist full-back ever if the £55million fee being reported is accurate, so no pressure then, eh? Hopefully, the deal is done soon and we can push on and focus on other transfer targets.
