Harry Maguire has made his return to training, after a month sidelined with an ankle issue.
Manchester United’s skipper would pick up an ankle injury during the Red Devils’ game against Aston Villa back on May 9th. What followed for us supporters was a fortnight of agony and hope. We’d all pray our captain would be fit for the Europa League final. Sadly, it wasn’t to be.
What we didn’t realise is just how far away from full fitness Maguire was. He’s already been ruled out of England’s opener against Croatia on Sunday – purely because he’s just not had enough time out on the training field to get up to speed.
Well, United and England have today been boosted, with the key star returning to training for the first time in a month.

When you’ve been out for so long, the worst thing you can do is rush yourself back. With that in mind, it’s down to Gareth Southgate to give Maguire all the time he needs – even if it means he completely misses out on the group stage matches.
The good news is that Maguire is now back out there. Thankfully, the ankle injury is no longer bothering him and he’s now working back to full health.
For us here, it’s always United over England. I just hope Maguire can now come through the tournament unscathed and return to Old Trafford feeling fully fit and ready to play. Let’s be honest, he’s by far and away our best centre-back and we’re going to need him in 2021/22, so this is definitely a welcome sight!
