Watch: Shea Lacey scores sublime solo goal for Man United’s U18s

Shea Lacey stole the show with a brilliant piece of individual skill for Man United’s U18s last night.

Manchester United Football Club are always at their best when it comes to developing youth and giving the future generation a chance. It’s in their DNA.

Erik ten Hag is doing his utmost to continue that mantra, while he’s being helped by a flurry of young talents who are impressing at all youth age groups at the AON Training Complex.

Without wanting to put too much pressure on his shoulders, Shea Lacey is arguably the biggest talent in the academy right now.

The 16-year-old, from Liverpool, continues to look the part at U18 level. Last night, he stole the show as the Reds’ took on Wolves, in a game that ended 2-2.

Lacey scored a truly unreal solo goal, that, dare I say, was Lionel Messi-esque. He beat two players with relative ease, before lifting the ball over a helpless goalkeeper. A real moment of individual magic from a top-tier talent.

As we’ve stated numerous times on this site in the past, there’s no better place for a young player to hone his talent than the Theatre of Dreams.

Lacey is in excellent hands with some of the best coaches in the business. They’ll keep getting the absolute maximum out of the player, while trying to keep him as grounded as possible.

Then, when the time is right, Ten Hag will slowly integrate the young man into the first-team, much like the process Alejandro Garnacho is going through right now.

As the old saying goes, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.
