Wayne Rooney has issued a response to a Cristiano Ronaldo scathing attack on the Englishman.

Manchester United Football Club have been attacked by Cristiano Ronaldo over the last week. Pretty brutally, I may add.

Ronaldo came for everyone and everything related with the Red Devils, somewhat unnecessarily and tactically. It was all a bit of a shock, to be honest.

One man who felt some force from Ronaldo was Wayne Rooney. Apparently, the Portugal international believes the Englishman has attacked his former teammate in the media. Except, that’s just not true.

Anyway, one shrewd reporter asked Rooney directly about what Ronaldo had to say in the latest portion of the interview. It was met with typical class from the United top scorer of all time.

Check out the video of Wayne Rooney being asked about the Cristiano Ronaldo comments here:

Honestly, it was just needless from Ronaldo. What’s Rooney ever done to hurt him? In fact, without Wazza, I’d argue Ronaldo wouldn’t be the player he is today.

It comes back to an ego thing. Ronaldo cannot hack it that he’s no longer the best in the world at what he does. There’s no shame in that given the fact he is in his late thirties!

I’m just proud to see Rooney staying calm and not starting a full-blown media war with Ronaldo. No doubt he’s hurting inside after seeing his former teammate abuse him, so it would have been easy to clap back at Ronaldo.

At the end of the day, it just paints Ronaldo in a negative light. Rooney is letting Ronaldo harm himself, while doing his own legacy a favour without having to do anything!
