Wayne Rooney has been ruled out for the season with a chipped bone in his toe, according to the Daily Star. The 28-year old played against Bayern Munich with an injection in his foot, but it was clear from the off the United talisman couldn’t strike the ball with any real purpose and intent.
Before the game, it was clear that Rooney was willing to put his World Cup dreams on the line to take part against Bayern Munich, and this could well come back to haunt him. It isn’t clear how long Rooney will be sidelined for, but the Star reckon we’ll be without him for ‘several weeks’.
Personally, I wouldn’t be bothered if Wayne Rooney missed the World Cup. He’ll be made the scapegoat of the squad and every away game next season he’ll get booed by the home fans. Obviously its sad for him on a personal level, because he’ll be desperate to play.
