Wayne Rooney expects Marcus Rashford to have a good World Cup for England.
Manchester United Football Club have loads of players jetting off to Qatar for the World Cup that begins tomorrow – as these guys look to bring the trophy back home for their respective nation.
There’s a fair chance one of Erik ten Hag’s players will hoist the trophy at the end of the tournament, with some lads playing for some of the heavy favourites.
Wayne Rooney believes one United star in particular will be the surprise player – as he believes Marcus Rashford ‘could have a big say’ for England, after his recent good form at club level.
Check out what Wayne Rooney had to say, when asked who he’d tip as his World Cup ‘surprise’:
“I still think Marcus Rashford could have a big say. He has come into a bit of form at United.” Wayne Rooney told The Times, per @UtdDistrict.
Rashford has been hit-and-miss in our opinion. The talent is so obviously there. All he’s lacking is that consistency. It’s up to Ten Hag to get that out of him.
One area of concern for me would be when it comes to finishing ability. Rashford often struggles in those vital moments, though if he can iron out that side of his game, there’s a world-class footballer in there, no doubt about it.
I do reckon Rashford will have a say over in Qatar, though right now, there’s no guarantee he starts every single match. That has to be his first take. Likely, he’ll have to make an impression off the bench, hoping to force his way into the XI as the tournament progresses. With the likes of Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling ahead of Rashy, it’s easier said than done.
