Wayne Rooney refuses to place blame on Manchester United starlet following error

Manchester United succumbed to Chelsea’s late pressure over the weekend, with Diego Costa breaking hearts by scoring a last minute leveller. Plenty of the fans were unhappy with Memphis Depay following an errant pass up the other end of the field, but Wayne Rooney has refused to lay the blame on him.

“I can’t stand here & blame Memphis, there were other things that happened in the game from when you give the ball away.” Wayne Rooney said.

At the end of the day, yes Memphis’ pass wasn’t anywhere near good enough, but there are ten other players on the pitch who should have defended their goal much better.

You always felt like Chelsea were going to score because Manchester United were just sitting back allowing Guus Hiddink’s side to come forward and attack.

However before kick-off the majority of our fans would have certainly taken a point, so its not the worst result in the world. Its now up to the players to keep confidence and morale high going into another away game at Sunderland next weekend.
