Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney missed last nights 1-1 draw away at Shakhtar Donetsk due to a shin injury picked up in training, but thankfully it isn’t serious. Despite wanting to leave Old Trafford earlier in the year, the 28-year old has been our most influential player so far this season.
Sports bookmaker Bwin.com currently have Wayne down as 4/1 to be the first goalscorer on Saturday.
Although United have been doing well in the Champions League, as well as beating local rivals Liverpool in the Capital One Cup, the Reds have been disappointing in the league, so having Rooney fit for Saturday could be crucial.
David Moyes was asked about Rooney, and he replied:
“I think so. It’s not that serious, he just took it in a clash with Danny Welbeck [in training] and it’s swollen up.”
Wayne Rooney has also been included in Roy Hodgson’s latest England squad, and Saturday’s game against Sunderland is our last for a fortnight due to the international break.
