Wayne Rooney set for United stay

According to Sky Sources, Wayne Rooney will not be handing in a formal transfer request at Manchester United. This will hopefully put any lingering rumours to bed after he put in an excellent performance against the side that wanted his signature yesterday.

Chelsea have made two bids for Rooney, both of which were immediately rejected by United.

This saga has been ongoing since Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that Wayne Rooney wanted to leave last season, but somewhat bizarrely Rooney himself still hasn’t spoke out on the mater. The Old Trafford crowd gave him an excellent reception last night, and Rooney responded with an excellent performance on the pitch.

Jose Mourinho tried to make his point by not playing a striker against United last night, and many fans interpreted this as a plea to Rooney, as if to say ‘that could be you’. For me if Chelsea don’t sign a world class striker, they won’t win the league this year.
