According to the Daily Star, Wayne Rooney is set to be snubbed for the Manchester United captaincy by incoming boss Louis van Gaal. Rooney had been touted as the long-term replacement to outgoing club captain Nemanja Vidic, but it looks as though Robin van Persie could be named the next permanent United skipper.
Van Gaal, 62, could be named Manchester United boss as early as this week as talks continue, and the Dutch manager is believed to favour his fellow Dutch compatriot in the form of Robin van Persie.
The lack of real leaders at Manchester United has been well documented in recent weeks, with the frontrunners for the armband including Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney.
Van Gaal made Robin van Persie his international captain when he was named Holland boss, and the pair have recently been spotted watching an Eredivisie game together, and Mrs Van Persie is also good friends with Mrs Van Gaal. All these little things add up to suggest that Van Persie is now favourite for the role, but it is by no means a certainty at this stage.

I don’t really care as long as they play better and win more often. If you chose on the basis of who played well, and with desire, this year then De Gea would be captain.
What has Mr. Rooney contributed this year honestly ? He is getting 300k a week but does his performances justifiable ? Dont mind if he get sold either
19 goals and 15 assists in 40 appearances isn’t bad…
Are you sure you have been watching EPL matches?
I think all of yourll are dumb fucks.
This is a joke how is van persie captain material. It should be someone at the club that cares about the crest not someone taht came here to win a title. Carrick all day.
