Wout Weghorst wants to complete a transfer to Man United, though it’s a somewhat complicated deal.
Out of absolutely nowhere, Manchester United interest in signing striker Wout Weghorst looks genuine.
The United squad has a rather large hole in it at present, with Cristiano Ronaldo yet to be replaced.
Weghorst is someone who Erik ten Hag will know well, after all, they’re both Dutch.
The striker has enjoyed a pretty good loan spell over at Besiktas in the first half of this season, though technically, Weghorst is still a Burnley player. That’s why this transfer could become complicated.
Turkish media outlet Fanatik, with the translation coming via Sport Witness, state that Weghorst’s agent is set for a meeting with Besiktas’ club president today.
Apparently, any deal is intent on Burnley reaching some sort of financial agreement to bring Weghorst back to Turf Moor, before the striker can potentially move to United.
The player is said to have already told the Besiktas club president that he wants this United transfer to happen, though that’s far easier said than done.
It’s stated that Burnley will have to pay Besiktas to end the loan deal early. Then, the Lancashire outfit will have to work out an agreement with United in regards to Weghorst.
In terms of overall fit, Weghorst is someone who’ll adapt well in that United dressing room. He’s a striker who is willing to press from the front. He also scores goals.
United desperately need an out-and-out number nine. Someone who isn’t relied upon to start every week, though can guarantee goals whenever they’re on the pitch. I really do feel like this would be an astute piece of business if the Old Trafford club can get it done.
