West Ham, Moyes, considering moves for Lingard, Jones this summer

Manchester United Football Club have been heading in the right direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, that much is obvious.

Credit where it’s due, the Baby Faced Assassin has made some brilliant signings. The Norwegian hasn’t been afraid to clear out the deadwood, either…

Well, the culling of the current squad is seemingly set to continue over this summer, per The Independent.

Apparently, Solskjaer is ‘hoping’ for a ‘summer clearout’ as two out-of-favour United stars in the form of Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones, are both expected to go.

What’s even more interesting is that none other than David Moyes is ‘considering’ moves for the pair – but only if West Ham United survive the dreaded drop.

Both have dropped down the pecking order this season. Jones, typically, has spent the majority of the campaign injured, with Harry Maguire’s addition further diminishing his playing time.

As for Lingard, Solskjaer apparently has ‘lost confidence‘ in the Warrington-born-winger, while the move to sign with agent Mino Raiola indicates (to me anyway) that a move away from Old Trafford may well be on the cards.

No teams other than West Ham are directly named in regards to Jones interest. Though West Bromwich Albion and Everton could be keen on Lingard. The level of sides who may want to sign the pair tells the whole story, really.

Simply put, they’ve not been good enough for United recently. That doesn’t look like changing anytime soon as Jones and Lingard are aged 28 and 27 respectively. They’ve had more than their fair share of opportunity.

The question is, can United get any sort of decent transfer fee for them? Both have time remaining on their current deals, though I’d struggle to see a club willing to pay more than £10m for Jones and £15-20m for Lingard…

I must admit, the thought of an outbound Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones transfer does make me pretty happy…
