Manchester United need a new centre-back (amongst several other things) this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been putting the feelers out a fair bit, with several names linked with Old Trafford switches. The latest player to be rumoured with a United move is Issa Diop. We covered a story from Sky Sports that claimed West Ham want £60million to let their 22-year-old centre-half leave the London Stadium.
The aforementioned report also stated that West Ham asked for an unnamed player to be involved. Well today, thanks to Miguel Delaney in the Independent, we now know that The Hammers asked for Anthony Martial to potentially be included in any deal…
Apparently, West Ham ‘may be willing to do business’ if the 23-year-old star is involved in any deal. Although understandably, after their latest discussions, United weren’t willing to part with Martial.
Delaney also backs up Sky Sports’ story suggesting that it’d take £60million to prise Diop away from West Ham during this window.
Honestly, that fee quoted isn’t bad whatsoever. Diop is immensely talented and he formed a brilliant partnership with Fabian Balbuena last season.
Aged just 22, the Frenchman Diop is improving almost on a game-by-game basis. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to continue this trend of targeting young, up-and-coming talents, this man fits the bill far better than Harry Maguire does…
