Who will Manchester United sell in the summer?

David Moyes has one hell of a job on his hands come the summer. The Manchester United squad is looking very poor in depth at the moment, and despite getting rid of Fabio, Anderson and sending out a few youngsters on loan in January, many of the current squad could be gone at the end of the season.

It has been suggested that United will bring in three or four ‘players of the highest level’, but surely to bring these types of players in Champions League football is a must? Anyway, we’ll leave that for another day… Onto who we think Moyes will sell, or let go in six months time.

Patrice Evra

Paddy Evra has been one of the best servants for this club, however I feel his time has come to an end. Every week now he seems to struggle with his positioning and the winger attacking him seems to have the beating of him 90% of the time. His contract expires in June, so I expect him to go back to Monaco.

Rio Ferdinand

Similarly to Patrice, Rio has arguably been the best centre-back in United’s history. He has been there and won it all, however as he comes to the latter stages of his career injury seems to have hampered him. He doesn’t look the force he was two or three seasons ago, and his contract also runs out in the summer. Letting him go will free up a lot of money in terms of wages, allowing it to be spent elsewhere.

Nemanja Vidic

Another one who’s contract is up in the summer. I expect he’ll go abroad and take one big payday before he retires.

Ryan Giggs

One word; Legend. At the ripe age of 40, Giggsy should now concentrate on his coaching career. He’ll always be remembered by United fans and without doubt he is the best servant this club has ever witnessed.

Anders Lindegaard

Hasn’t featured much this season due to David de Gea’s excellent form. I’d sell him and promote Ben Amos/Sam Johnstone as backup to big Dave.

Nani

He signed a new contract in the summer but that was probably done so we get a decent fee for him. It has been suggested that United want around £15m for him, and hopefully they’ll be a taker come June.

Anderson

He’s currently on loan at Fiorentina, who have an option to buy him at the end of the season. Fingers crossed he does well there.

Tom Cleverley

Has had his chance and failed to take it. I’d imagine he’ll stay in England. Possibly join a club like Sunderland.

Shinji Kagawa

It sadly hasn’t worked for Shinji. He is a class act and clubs will definitely be in for him if we decide to sell. I’d like to see him being used in some form of deal that brings either Marco Reus or Ilkay Gundogan coming to Old Trafford.

Alex Buttner

Not good enough. He looks great going forward but he’s a liability defensively. The left-back slot certainly needs major attention in the off-season.

Javier Hernandez

The Little Pea is without doubt a class finisher, however he is another who has found his chances limited under Moyes. We should sell him now whilst he still has value, and spend the money to strengthen elsewhere.

There are an awful lot of players who I can see going, and if we were to get rid of even half of the lads mentioned above we’ll have a lot of money to play with come the summer. Our squad needs major work, but I expect Moyes will sell before he buys.

  1. Agree with all of them except Pea. Who should be used ahead of Welbeck & should come off the bench more. You can throw Young in there, as Zaha needs to be given a chance & there are a lot of kids who need looking at before the end of the season. The Keane brothers, Powell, Lingaard & others who could be used in the shocking season. Our biggest problem is our lack of European football next year & a manager who doesn’t seem to have any tactical knowledge.

  2. Maybe disagree on vidic and pea also in the transfer window we should look at our defence and mid strikers ok

  3. Sell moyes! If not sell mata and dont bother wasting any money on centre midfielders! Theres no point in spending money on central attacking players and tell them to give the ball the the useless wingers just to cross aimlessly all the time!!!!!
