Amad Diallo would sadly be unavailable vs WBA. Now we know why…
Amad Diallo has been majorly exciting since making his move to Manchester United. From the get-go, he looked ready for immediate first-team action.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would confirm that Diallo was in line for his debut within the first month or so of his Reds career. We’re rapidly approaching that point.
After Diallo was named as a substitute vs West Ham in midweek, United fans assumed we may well have seen a full debut for the Ivorian against WBA. Sadly, he was nowhere near the squad.
Now we know why. According to Rob Dawson of ESPN, Diallo was missing with an illness, which was also the reason why the 18-year-old United star didn’t feature for the U23s on Friday night.
Sure, it’s just guesswork to suggest Diallo could have made his bow against West Brom but it certainly looked like as-good-a-time as any. Now, our fans will have to wait patiently again…
When could a Diallo debut come?
With games coming thick and fast across multiples competitions, I don’t doubt that Diallo will have ample chances heading his way in the not too distant future.
Be it in the Europa League or FA Cup. You suspect a full debut is just around the corner. For Diallo, it’s now about overcoming this bout of illness and continuing to impress.
Hopefully, he’s not sidelined for too long. Diallo has looked super-sharp on his two U23s appearances. He does look like someone who could be the long-term answer to our right-wing problems. No doubt Solskjaer wants to fully explore that option before spending big on someone like Jadon Sancho over the summer…
