Man United must wave goodbye to Amad this month, with the attacker not involved against Newport County yesterday.
Manchester United Football Club progressed into the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday, though the game against Newport County wasn’t pretty. Being two-nil up and allowing that advantage to slip was somewhat embarrassing, even if the game ended 4-2 in the Reds’ favour.
I was expecting to see a strong side named purely due to the fact that the FA Cup is our best chance at silverware, though the fact that we didn’t see Amad, not even off the bench, was majorly disheartening.
The young winger is back fit now, patiently waiting for his opportunity. The likes of Luke Shaw and Casemiro both started after being in similar positions. Yet Amad just sat there patiently waiting for an opportunity that never came.
I have to be honest. I just don’t get it. Erik ten Hag was handed the chance to see what the Ivorian is all about in a meaningful game. Yet refused to utilise Amad, who is no doubt chomping at the bit and ready to showcase his talents to the world.
My view on the situation is this; if not now, when? There’s never going to be a better chance for Amad at United. The club is depleted in the right-wing area and were playing against a League Two opponent. The situation felt perfect…
I’m led to believe Amad himself has liked a post on X suggesting that a loan move back to Sunderland wouldn’t be the worst idea. I’m starting to think United must sell the 21-year-old starlet permanently after this snubbing, as there’s just going to be no way for Amad to break into the team. That’s just the harsh reality of the situation.
No disrespect to Antony, but we all watched the Brazilian yesterday. It was the latest in a long line of dreadful performances. Yet the gaffer didn’t turn to Amad to see if he can perform any better. What’s the point?
Amad liking the tweet aside, I hope ETH doesn’t give him the Pellestri treatment. Both these guys score 100 times over Antony in every aspect of the game. pic.twitter.com/FJgeJPlWM1

Games are running out. Marcus Rashford will likely be back in the squad soon. Amad must clearly see that the gaffer doesn’t fancy him as a footballer at this point. If I am the player in this situation, I’m pushing hard for a move away in the final stages of the January transfer window.
This is yet another example of poor United transfer business. We’re talking about a £37m signing here. He cannot get a look-in after an impressive loan spell last season. Do the honourable thing. Let him leave, rather than stunting his growth.
I’m not here saying Amad is the best thing since sliced bread. It’s just that he’s never had a fair crack at the whip to show us all what he’s capable of. Surely that’s the least he deserves? Surely he cannot do any worse than Antony?
I guess Facundo Pellistri is another player who is in exactly the same boat right now. The pair must be so disheartened with the way their young careers are playing out.
