Wilfried Zaha impresses whilst United continue to struggle

Manchester United lost their fifth game out of seven since the turn of the year yesterday, and it seems to be a case of one step forward two steps back for David Moyes’ side at the moment. However over in Wales, Wilfried Zaha came off the Cardiff bench to bag two assists and turn the game completely on its head.

To his credit, the 21-year old winger has been patiently waiting for his Manchester United chance all season – a chance that never came. The England international has struggled for form whilst playing for the United reserves, and maybe David Moyes felt that he wasn’t ready for the jump up just yet.

However former United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave Zaha a lifeline by sealing a loan move for him on transfer deadline day. Cardiff found themselves 1-0 down as the second half began, and Zaha changed the game completely. He ran the Norwich full-backs ragged and earned two excellent assists in the space of two minutes to give Cardiff a much-needed three points that lifted them off the bottom of the table.

United have struggled for form from their wide mine all season-long. Antonio Valencia still look bereft of confidence, Ashley Young is far too predictable and Nani often frustrates. Despite this, Moyes hasn’t utilised Zaha anywhere near enough. At least give him a chance to show what he can do, you never know, he may be that spark that the team needed to kick-on. Its disappointing to see him go out on loan without even getting that chance.

I just hope Wilfried can now push on and be a key part of Cardiff’s Premier League survival. Then hopefully he’ll come back to United with that confidence and swagger you need to make it at the very top, giving Moyes no chance but to play him.

  1. Hope he does the business for Cardiff, enjoys himself so much that he wants to stay. He has special talent that was going to waste at Man utd or was there another reason why Moyes didn’t pick him?

      • He has started well for Cardiff, and made the difference coming on for Whittingham. Could turn out to be a useful provider for Kenwynne Jones and Frazer Campbell. Fabio made a decent start as well. .
