Man United will be without Will Fish for the next five weeks, with the defender suffering torn ligaments.
Manchester United Football Club have been plagued by injuries for the last twelve months now. Erik ten Hag has had absolutely zero luck on that front, with that worrying trend continuing into the new campaign.
Leny Yoro is sidelined for the foreseeable. Rasmus Hojlund, too. In the game against Liverpool over the weekend, the problems worsened as Will Fish went down with a serious-looking injury.
The Manchester Evening News have provided the latest on that front, confirming yet another United injury blow. Fish has suffered torn ligaments and is now out for five weeks.
Fish looked in a seriously bad way immediately after suffering the injury, with Ten Hag coming onto the field to check on the defender, who had to be stretchered off.
Thankfully, Fish did not suffer a fracture, with the prognosis better than initially expected. However, this all-but rules out a loan move away for the 21-year-old with a bright future.
Before suffering the injury, Fish was told he was not going to be sold by the Old Trafford club, as he would have acted as cover in the wake of the aforementioned Yoro injury.
He’s definitely first-team ready following a successful loan move in Scotland last season, while it would have been nice to see him play a part, particularly after Willy Kambwala’s exit.
Now, his focus is firmly fixated on recovery. Hopefully, the Englishman is remaining positive, despite the fact he’s entering into the final year of his United contract. The club could yet choose to extend that deal by a further year.
