Man United academy graduate Will Fish has signed a new contract with the club.
After Manchester United confirmed that Zidane Iqbal had signed a new deal yesterday, the Red Devils were back at it today as they continue to tie their young stars down to fresh terms.
This time around, it’s centre-back Will Fish. The young Mancunian was all-smiles (see below) as he put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.
Fish made his first-team debut over twelve months ago now, playing on the final day of the 2020/21 season against Wolverhampton Wanderers under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Since then, the centre-back has gone from strength to strength in the Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League. A loan spell with Stockport County also aided his development as a footballer.
Fish’s new terms run until 2025, with the club having the option to extend that by a further year.
Now nineteen, Fish is undoubtedly keen to make that next jump up in his career. The Englishman will hopefully be impressing Erik ten Hag during the current first-team training sessions, with a view to heading on tour with the senior squad next month.
For the player, it’s about continuing his development at his own pace. When the time is right, Fish will be given those regular first-team opportunities, though I am keen to see him involved in a friendly or two over in Thailand and Australia in July.
Now that Fish’s future is secure, he can focus solely on making the jump up to senior level, rather than worrying about where his future lies.
Congratulations on the new deal, Will!
