Man United are all set to seal the sale of Willy Kambwala, with the defender heading to Villareal.
Manchester United Football Club have always been the best in class when it comes to developing young players and giving their talents a chance at the highest level.
Sometimes, though, a player will slip through the net every so often. Losing Omari Forson a few weeks ago certainly hurt, with the talented young man heading to Monza.
However, over the last couple of days, rumours of a Willy Kambwala exit have picked up. The DR Congo-born defender felt like the next in line for his big opportunity at the Theatre of Dreams.
Sadly, that will not be the case. Journalist Benjamin Quarez has provided the latest update on that front, confirming that Kambwala’s medical is set for today, as he prepares to head to Villareal.
The 19-year-old United starlet is set to leave on a five-year contract, in a deal worth an initial £8.5m before add-ons and bonuses.

Révélation de la saison à Man United, le défenseur français de 19 ans quitte les Red Devils, comme annoncé par @FabrizioRomano. Transfert de 10ME + bonus. Contrat de 5 ans. #mercato @leparisiensport
Although this is a decent fee for a man who has only made one senior start, Villareal are paying for his talent. Kambwala has all the tools to become a top tier central defender and I really do believe that the Old Trafford club will regret this decision.
My only thought behind it is the fact that Kambwala has been told he’ll have to remain patient for his chances, due to the fact that United are going to sign one, maybe even two centre-halves this summer…
