James Rodriguez will only leave Real Madrid if Manchester United come calling, that’s according to Diario Gol, translated by the Daily Star. The 25-year-old would be a welcome addition at the Theatre of Dreams, and it’s nice to know that he values our club and Jose Mourinho very highly.
The report says that he will stay at the Bernabeu if the Old Trafford club don’t make a bid for him, meaning the Colombian will snub any interest from Antonio Conte’s Chelsea who are current Premier League champions.
I’m a huge fan of Rodriguez’s, and I think he has the capabilities to become one of the best #10s in the world. This is a man who set the World Cup alight three years ago at the tender age of 22, and unfortunately, a lack of playing time out in Spain has meant that growth as a player hasn’t really happened for him.
The writing looks to be on the wall in my opinion. The attacker didn’t even make the bench for Real Madrid’s Champions League final against Juventus – which surely must have been the final straw for him. He’s at that point in his career where regular football is a necessity and it definitely looks like moving on is in his best interests.
