Manchester United have been hunting down the signature of a so called marquee player for quite some time now, with Louis van Gaal keen to give the squad a morale boost of sorts. One of the best central defenders in the world has claimed there was an offer in place by United; Sergio Ramos.
“There was a strong offer from MUFC. I thought about a change of scenery, but my priority was always Real Madrid.” Ramos said.
The Spanish central defender has been up there with the best in the world for years, and last summer there was a serious feeling that he could walk out on Madrid; With Old Trafford being a likely destination. Sadly that didn’t happen.
At 30, he is without doubt at the peak of his powers at the moment, and although it’d be costly to bring him in it would certainly be worth the gamble. Ramos and Smalling at the back would be a formidable partnership, and Manchester United would be well and truly back on the map of the worlds best if this move happens.
