Manchester United will have to strengthen their squad this summer, with Louis van Gaal expecting another big spending spree to make the side much more capable of competing in the Premier League as well as the Champions League.
According to The Telegraph, Manchester United are expected to complete a move for one of the best defenders in the world – Mats Hummels.
The 26-year old has become disillusioned with life at Borussia Dortmund, due to poor performances from his side and the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
Its now time for a new challenge for the defender, and Manchester United would be an extremely good fit for the big German.
Louis van Gaal needs a commanding leader at the heart of the defence, and Mats Hummels would certainly be that experienced centre-back.
For me, Hummels is one of the best ball-playing defenders in the world, and Louis van Gaal’s mantra is exactly that. He likes everyone in his side to be able to play football, and there aren’t many better passing defenders in the world than Hummels.
