Manchester United Football Club are looking like keeping hold of the services of Louis van Gaal until at least 2017, with sources close to the United hierarchy saying that the club are delighted with the progress under the Iron Tulip.
However, one man, who has been constantly linked with the United job is Carlo Ancelotti, and he has spoken out about those rumours.
Ancelotti was asked about the possibility of coaching United, and he responded:
“Of course, for every manager, they would all think of managing Manchester United.”
“I would like to come back in a club with a good project, but, of course, one that is competitive.” He added. “If I don’t find a club with a good project, I will continue to wait.”
“I will not take a job in mid-season, but I would like to work again next summer.”
He has also ruled out the possibility of taking a job in the middle of the season. Its clear he wants a proper go at things from the start of a new campaign, giving him the best possible chance to make whichever team he manages his own.
Personally I’d love to see Ancelotti at United when Louis van Gaal calls it a day, but that doesn’t look like happening until at least 2017, and the Italian will probably have another job by then.
