World-class PSG man a doubt to take on Man United with ankle injury: report

Under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Manchester United fans are no longer dreading their Champions League double-header against Paris Saint-Germain.

Instead, it’s a game that Red Devils fans are looking forward to with optimism. Well, United’s hand could have just been significantly strengthened, with Neymar now a doubt to play at Old Trafford with a metatarsal problem.

That’s according to The Guardian, who add that the world-class Brazilian picked up the injury on Wednesday night during PSG’s 2-0 victory over Racing Strasbourg.

Let’s be honest here, despite Kylian Mbappe’s brilliance over the last year or so, Neymar is still top dog in Paris. If he’s out, it gives Solskjaer one less player to worry about – which can only be a good thing.

As a match-going fan, it’s always wonderful to see the best players run out at the Theatre of Dreams. However, give me progression into the Champions League last eight over seeing Neymar every single time.

If we play anything close to how we’ve been playing at home recently, then we certainly have a chance to do some damage and take a lead back to Paris. I still have my doubts, though. Imagine Mbappe and Phil Jones in a footrace? That’s a scary thought…
