Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney has been in dire form for the first half of the season, with the 29-year old coming in for heavy criticism from the fans. However, the dressing room is clearly still behind the England international, as David de Gea backs him.
“Rooney always tries to motivate us. When things are going badly it’s always him who speaks up & encourages us.” David de Gea said.
Perhaps this is why Louis van Gaal persists with Wayne Rooney. His captain is clearly great at motivating his teammates on and off the pitch, and although he isn’t playing great, he is probably the best option for other reasons.
Reports today have suggested that Rooney is in line for a return to action, after overcoming a minor injury, and the hectic winter schedule would be the perfect time for our key figure to find some form and start banging in the goals.
