Yefferson Soteldo keen on Man Utd switch, insists it’s his dream

Manchester United Football Club need a big summer transfer window. Right now, it feels as though the Reds are just a few pieces away from being able to compete on all fronts.

Amongst the positions of need is another forward. After losing Romelu Lukaku last summer, while right-wing still remains a minor issue, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is undoubtedly looking at the options available.

Well today, the Baby Faced Assassin may well have been helped out by Yefferson Soteldo. In an interview, the 22-year-old South American star has insisted that his wish is to be able to play for United, showing his keenness on a Reds switch in the future. He did (wisely) add that he’s happy at Santos right now, though.

“I’m happy at Santos, I’m very happy that they say that I am one of the idols here, for me I’m not.” Soteldo said to LaTeleTuya, per Venezuelan website Ultimas Noticias, translated via Sport Witness.

Soteldo was then asked about his dream: “is to be able to play for Manchester United, but today Santos are in my head 100%”.

Soteldo is predominantly a left-winger, though he’s versatile enough to play all across the front three. As of right now, that’s about the limit of my knowledge.

The young Venezuelan could well be targeted, though, as he does fit with the usual profile that United tend to look for; young, developing and keen to learn.

I guess the main problem would be where he stands in the pecking order. United have young talent aplenty on their books and breaking into that team definitely wouldn’t be easy. He would be relatively cheap, though, so it could be worth the risk.
