Tricky Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka is set to become Louis van Gaal’s first signing as Manchester United manager, according to The Mirror. Club officials have made their first move in the deal, as talks have opened between United and Dnipro.
Liverpool tried to lure Konoplyanka away from Dnipro back in January and although a bid was accepted the move wasn’t completed in time. Now it looks like United are in pole position for the Ukrainian’s signature, who has been in excellent form for club and country.
This deal will be allowed to progress throughout the World Cup because Ukraine aren’t involved in the competition, hence why this move could be completed before any deal for Southampton’s Luke Shaw.
The Mirror also claim Van Gaal has targeted Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mats Hummels and Kevin Strootman.
